New to working out, nutrition, supplements?

Okay, I am starting P90X, and I’m going to TRY to follow the nutrition plan as closely as I can. But my MAIN concern is supplements. The only ones I have heard of is whey protein and creatine, and multi-vitamins. I am about 6′3 200 lbs, in average shape. I want to tone but building mass would be nice as well, thats the only reason why I considered supplements. I will try to adhere to the nutrition plan as most as I can, the only but in here is because i’m a college student and live paycheck to paycheck, I can’t afford going to the grocery store to get high end expensive things just to necessarily eat better.

Ha..I have been on the college student nutrition plan..it is tough BUT Eggs are cheap as well as ground beef and frozen veggies. I would go with a high quality whey protein minus the fillers and additives for your protein. You can get 5lbs for $26.99 online! Good luck

Are vitamins (food supplements) really safe?

"Most of your supplements are loaded with hidden sugars, salts and harmful fillers. You’re really better off getting the nutrients you need from FOOD."….
"The supplements industry is not only completely unregulated, it is also joined at the hip with some of the biggest pharmaceuticals companies, which have their nutritional supplements divisions. The general public has been mislead for decades to believe that dietary supplements are safe and effective means of ensuring good health, when they are, in fact, actually destroying health."

Someone else said that, not me.

Comments? Thanks.

I believe there is good and bad in everything. I spent 5 years in a health and nutrition background learning and educating myself and staff. Yes whole foods is the best source of nutrients but unfortunately with our fast pace world we live in it becomes unrealistic to believe that we are always going to eat properly and healthy. However we still need supplimentation. I think that situations alter cases and things can be done in moderation. Research your manufacturing companies and educate yoursel with fillers and ingredience. These factors have all to do with everything. Immune support is very important as well as many other things. Do as much as you can for yourself naturally and there is nothing wrong with a helping hand. Just make it your responsibility to educate yourself.
